The good pub guide review

This traditional village pub, a great favourite with both locals and visitors, has been reliably well run by the same family for many years. The three main bars, on different levels, are all comfortable, with maroon plush-topped stools, cushioned mate's chairs and dark wooden pubby tables on patterned carpet, horsebrasses along the bressumer beam above a big stone fireplace and a growing collection of hand bells; background music and board games. Changing beers on handpump from small independent breweries include many from the West Country, such as Cheddar Potholer, Fine Tuned Pitch Perfect and Teignmouth Templer, plus nine wines by the glass, eight gins and local farm cider. There's also a separate restaurant, a skittle alley/function room and plenty of picnic-sets out on the terrace and in the garden. Disabled access. RSPB Ham Wall nature reserve is nearby.

The good pub guide food review

Honest food includes sandwiches, ploughman's and jacket potatoes, Somerset brie fritters with cranberry sauce, seafood platter (to share), red kidney bean and mushroom bordelaise in red wine sauce, chicken breast with bacon, barbecue sauce and mozzarella cheese, spinach and feta cheese parcels, celery, almond and cashew nut roast with cheese sauce, pork chop with honey and wholegrain mustard sauce, and puddings such as blackcurrant cheesecake and a range of ice-cream sundaes.
