Spacious contemporary place with up-to-date décor and furnishings, a wide range of drinks, interesting all-day food and good, quick service
The good pub guide review
Set across three floors in the redeveloped plaza behind King's Cross station, with views across the fountains in Granary Square and the adjacent Regent's Canal, this bar-restaurant is as ultra-modern and stylish as you'd expect. The ground-floor terrace and wrap-around decking on the first floor have plenty of seats, benches and tables to make the most of the vista. Floor-to-ceiling windows and big folding doors in the open-plan bars keep it all very light and airy, while the minimalist, industrial-style décor encompasses contemporary chairs, bench seats and tables on wood-strip floors. High chairs line the counters where efficient, friendly staff serve Five Points Pale and Harbour Ellensburg Session IPA on handpump, several craft and bottled beers, 18 wines by the glass and seasonal cocktails; background music. Note: they don't accept cash.
The good pub guide food review
Imaginative and appealing food includes flatbreads with toppings, cauliflower fritters with turmeric sauce, 28-day dry-aged grass-fed Galloway rib-eye steak with watercress and skin-on fries, pan-fried trout with brown shrimp, kohlrabi slaw and sea vegetables, supergrain or beef burger with skin-on fries, and puddings such as dark chocolate parfait with orange and honeycomb and raspberry and elderflower eton mess with lemon curd and mint.
