The good pub guide review
The garden of this friendly riverside pub is a boon in summer, when the contemporary chairs and tables plus booth seating, heaters and barbecues are much appreciated by happy customers. Inside, there's a good vibrant atmosphere in the interconnected rooms: wooden dining and tub chairs around copper-topped or chunky wooden tables, comfortably upholstered wall seats with scatter cushions, mirrors, old photographs and lots of church candles. From the long panelled bar counter, helpful staff serve Sambrooks Wandle, Sharps Doom Bar and Timothy Taylors Landlord on handpump, Park Brewery Gallows Gold craft beer, 18 wines by the glass, ten gins and cocktails. Background music.
The good pub guide food review
A wide range of popular food includes sandwiches, sharing plates and dishes such as wild boar liver, rum and ginger pâté, pan-fried turbot with sautéed potatoes, wild mushrooms and parsley cream sauce, slow-cooked lamb shank madras with rice, raita and flatbread, braised steak and Doombar ale hotpot with sautéed red and green cabbage, and various burgers, pizzas and steaks. Puddings include dark chocolate brownie with vanilla bean cream and summer fruit eton mess.
