His favourite pub is…
I’ve been going for years and it’s the pinnacle of perfection, whether for a cosy winter pint by the fire or a summer sip in the characterful garden. The food year round is, bang for buck, as good as it gets, and the bar snacks are as exotic as they are excellent. You can eat informally, discreetly or, for a bit more of an occasion, the various nooks and settings are faultless. Service is always professional and lives up to the ‘jolly’ moniker, while the drinks list is sublime – from local wine to a wide range of whisky, beautifully kept beers and carefully chosen cider. In fact, writing all this down is making me wonder why I am not there right now, settling in for a session. Care to join me?
We would love to! Olly has written a wonderful piece for the latest Good Pub Guide about finding great pub wines. Pick up your copy now to read it.
