Fordwich Arms

The good pub guide review

Interesting 1930s red-brick building by the River Stour (the much older pub burnt down); most customers here for young chef-landlord's excellent modern food (not Sun evening, Mon), but still drinkers in the long parquet-floored bar where they serve four real ales and good wines by the glass, courteous friendly staff, simply furnished panelled back dining room with open fire; background music; children and dogs welcome, tables on side lawn and riverside terrace, the town hall opposite is thought to be England's oldest, closed Mon, otherwise open all day.
