Cheerful unpretentious little local with half a dozen real ales, 30 malt whiskies and good choice of wines by the glass, really good reasonably priced bar food (all day Sat, not Sun evening), tiny front bar on right with stools along nicely curved counter and bench window seats, two other simple rooms hung with photographs and information about the famous Lewes bonfire night, beer mats pinned over doorways, poetry and folk evenings; children (not in front bar) and dogs welcome, picnic-sets on attractive two-level back terrace, open all day (till midnight Fri, Sat)
