A superb pub; one of the best for food and ales in South Wales. Good, seasonal and local menu and a selection of ales from Otley themselves (the pub's owners) and good quality guests.
Worth the visit from Cardiff which hasn't a pub to touch this.

We kept our promise and returned for the sunday lunch. Absolutely georgeous, a few pints of Otley in the bar, then into the dining area for lunch, 3 courses for £15. 50 !!!!
starter of whitebait and salmon in savoy parcel in a butter and saffron sauce. roast beef dinner, the beef actually fell apart as we made an attempt to cut it soooo tender, with yorkshire pudding fresh veg and lovely beef gravy, followed by sorbet and iced cream with a dark chocolate waffle, an Irish coffee {extra}. another 2 otleys then over to my local Weatherspoon for a few pints to round off the afternoon.

What a find this place is, when you do actually find it ... fantastic !!
the quiet side of the A470 carriageway, tucked away down a dead end street. The outside can be a little off putting on arrival, with a scruffy car park and mouldy sun shades on some decking. step inside and all doubts evaporate, comfy leather sofas, pine wood chairs plenty of newspapers, and the all important ale is superb, a great choice of Otley ales among others, i opted for the flagship 01 a lovely light straw coloured beer, lovely, flowery and hoppy with a late arriving bitter aftertaste, a couple of those, then i sampled a few of the "rosie" bitter, a wonderful deep chestnut coloured ale with a tiny drift of the herb Rosemary, superb. an absolute gem of a pub for the beer. the food is a league above all eateries within miles, an inventive, and ever changing menu, beautifully crafted food, served piping hot, with very little waiting time. I could not fault this pub, for it's wonderful food and the lovely ales. Can't wait to return.
